Fast Components Limited was set-up in autumn 2003 by two product designers. Thomas Arundel and Tsuyoshi Kihara are still practising freelance product design and, in the last three years, the pair formed a large network of reliable freelance designers, to whom certain aspects of a particular design can be outsourced. By combining the specialist expertise from our network, with Fast Component’s component sourcing capability, we can offer clients world-class designs at real-world prices.

Please don't hesitate to contact us regarding your product development needs. We typically respond with an initial proposal within a week. Our initial proposal will contain a handful of proposed solutions, and a project costing. In many cases a rough manufacturing costing can also be produced within two to three weeks. Following consultations with the client, a flexible project plan is developed that allows for changes (if necessary) to be made at agreed milestones through the development cycle. We then use a core development team to develop the overall solution, and our wider network to develop specific elements of the design. The project is managed through our proprietary integrated IT system, and everyone within the design network is covered by a confidentiality agreement. The majority of our design network is made up of PHd's from leading UK universities either studying or taking a sabbatical from their studies.

Most product design consultancies tend to focus their efforts on product aesthetics, which are undoubtedly important. However, functionality or mass-production efficiency can seriously suffer from the overzealous pursuit of designs suitable for design awards, often at the client's expense. Our core competence is the strong technical base that allows us to focus on innovative technical solutions, as much as innovative aesthetics.
